This is an indepedent & private writing blog for Claire Redfield of Capcom's BIOHAZARD / RESIDENT EVIL series. I am primarily game-based with influences from the originals, the remakes & the various retellings as well as the comics & CGI movies / series. Some inspiration is derived from the S.D. Perry novels & personal headcanons.

02. INTERACTIONS.

I will only interact with mutuals & will only follow those who I see myself actually interacting with. I will answer out-of-character memes & questions from non-mutuals but I am selective with it.All standard roleplay etiquettes apply. Don't godmod, metagame, autohit, etc. unless we've discussed it prior.I am original character friendly & generally don't mind duplicates. However! I am very, very, very selective with OCs who are children of canon characters.I will not interact with: Valenfield OCs, Cleon OCs, Cleve OCs, Claire child OCs in general, Jill child OCs in general, Chris child OCs where the other parent is female. There is absolutely no way for me to possibly fit you into my canon without bending things I have previously stated I will not bend on. Claire is a lesbian, Jill is a lesbian, they are married, have been since late 2004, & they do not want children. I acknowledge Chris as a gay man by default. It just will not work. Sorry.

03. PLOTTING & THREADS.

This blog is going to be highly plot-driven / plot-based. I want to focus on building & fleshing out dynamics with other muses & creating interesting story arcs rather than throwaway interactions that get dropped after two or three replies & generally offer no space for development.My IMs & Discord are always open to mutuals for plotting & discussing character dynamics, so feel free to message me!As a general note, please don't feel pressured to match length or format with me.

01. DEFAULT VERSE.

The default verse on this blog is set within the time period after CODE: Veronica up to & including the events of Degeneration. However! I have verses set all throughout the canon Resident Evil timeline & I am always just as happy & excited to set interactions in those as well. My default verse just means that most unplotted interactions & interactions with muses from other fandoms will generally be dropped into that verse.I have a canon timeline version of this verse as well as a modern timeline version & will set interactions within one of the two as I see fit.

02. MARRIAGE.

Claire's marriage to Jill Valentine is public knowledge, so anyone who knows them most likely knows that they're married. This is especially true of those working with the BSAA & TerraSave. If you think your muse would be aware of it, you're free to mention it in threads / memes / etc. & I won't consider it to be metagaming or anything.

03. RE: REVELATIONS 2.

I have a lot of issues with Revelation 2's portrayal of Claire. She was written almost entirely opposite to the way she's always been portrayed in the past, coming off as hardened & cynical when that is the antithesis to who she's always been before. I feel like this is totally disrespectful to who she is & so while I acknowledge the events of Revelations 2, I don't adapt that characterization.I do understand that her character assassination is pretty much exclusive to the English localization of the game, but because I haven't read or watched the original Japanese version yet, I currently have no input on how I feel about it.

After the Raccoon City Incident, Redfield has been known to experience regular bouts of insomnia. Recurring nightmares have also contributed to poor sleeping habits & anxiety almost exclusive to falling asleep. She has been known to self-medicate with sleeping aids.Previously, she suffered from moderate to severe panic attacks primarily spurred by nightmares & infrequent flashbacks. Recently, however, it's been found that she can deal with them much more efficiently now. With the help of medication & her own healthier coping techniques, they are now less frequent & she is able to de-escalate them more quickly.

VIRAL STRAIN : t-Phobos, a variant of the t-Virus.
VIRAL GROUP : Group VI, ssRNA-RT.
VIRAL FAMILY : RetroviridaeVIRUS ATTRIBUTES : t-Phobos possesses capabilities similar to the t-Virus but reacts solely to adrenaline & noradrenaline, hormones that are secreted in large amounts during times of stress (such as anxiety & fear). Once in the bloodstream, these hormones interact with the virus, causing it to spread at speeds dependent on the amount secreted & how long those levels remained high. It can remain dormant forever or spread through the body & mutate the host in a matter of seconds. t-Phobos is unique from other viral strains in that others rely on the host's physical condition while t-Phobos relies on the host's psychological conditions.METHOD OF MONITORING : Alex Wesker utilized sensor bracelets to measure the amount of adrenaline & noradrenaline in the host's system. These bracelets were color-coded to designate particular stages. Green meant conditions were normal. Orange signified stress & flashing red represented fear. Solid red indicated pathogenesis, the onset of symptoms. Although red typically meant an impending mutation, adapted hosts could show permanently red with no apparent symptoms due to the virus's adaptation to the host.

1978 - 1996.

Claire Danielle Redfield was born on February 28th in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan, New York as the second & last child of Levi & Danielle Redfield. Her older brother, United States Airman Chris Redfield, later became her legal guardian after their parents were killed in a car accident.After high school, she attended the University of Illinois at Chicago. She lived on campus with one roommate (Eliza Walker) & was majoring in Engineering Physics.

1996 - 1998.

Redfield was first exposed to bioterrorism in September 1998 when she traveled to Raccoon City in the midst of the viral outbreak henceforth referred to as the Raccoon City Incident to look for her brother, a former S.T.A.R.S. operative at the Raccoon Police Department (RPD). During this time, she met then-rookie RPD officer Leon S. Kennedy & the daughter of two prominent Umbrella researchers, Sherry Birkin.While searching the city & eventually trying to escape with Sherry & Leon, she encountered B.O.W.s more commonly referred to in layman's terms as zombies & mutant creatures, Tyrant T-00 of the T-103 Series & a horribly Golgotha-mutated William Birkin.She is one of the few survivors of the incident.After escaping Raccoon City, Redfield met up with her brother's former S.T.A.R.S. partner Jill Valentine & with the help of another surviving S.T.A.R.S. member & close family friend, Barry Burton, the two traveled to Europe in search of Chris. It is believed that Redfield & Valentine began a romantic relationship during this time.

While infiltrating Umbrella's Parisian HQ, Redfield was captured by the security forces & transferred to Rockfort Island. However, her arrival coincided with an attack by the HCF that resulted in a t-Virus outbreak & the release of several B.O.W.s contained within its facilities.With the help of fellow prisoner Steve Burnside, Redfield escaped the island by a military seaplane. Upon reaching optimal altitude, the autopilot activated & crashed landed at an Umbrella facility in Antarctica owned by the Ashfords, whom the two had narrowly escaped from on Rockfort.The Antarctica Base had also fallen to a t-Virus outbreak.After killing both Alfred Ashford & Nosferatu (Alexander Ashford mutated by the t-Veronica virus), Redfield & Burnside escaped the base, heading for the Australian Polar Observation Base. They were seized by the mutant appendages of the t-Veronica adapted Alexia Ashford & were taken back to the base as prisoners.Burnside was infected by the t-Veronica virus & after a struggle in which he almost killed her, he died in Redfield's arms. Redfield was rescued by her brother Chris & together they managed to kill the horribly mutated Ashford & escaped the island before its self-destruction.

1999 - 2004.

Redfield returned to the United States & began to regularly visit Birkin, who at the time was in protective custody of the U.S. Government following the Raccoon City Incident.During this time, Redfield joined the NGO TerraSave International, a human rights organization dedicated to aiding victims of bioterrorism & other medical-related health disasters, among other things.According to official documents, Redfield & Valentine were married in late 2004.

2005.

Redfield was once again embroiled in a t-Virus outbreak at the Harvardville Airport, spearheaded by Fredric Downing in an effort to save WilPharma, a pharmaceutical company that TerraSave had come into conflict with over its clinical trials in India.With the help of now-Federal Agent Kennedy & Angela Miller of the Harvardville Special Response Team (SRT), Redfield was able to expose Downing & WilPharma & stop the spread of the virus as well as the distribution of the g-Virus to the Bajiri military.

2006 - 2010.

After the bankruptcy & dissolution of WilPharma, Redfield continue her activism & investigative work with TerraSave. Records show that she took several personal leaves between 2006 & 2009, presumably to assist in the search for Valentine who had gone missing in action.During this time, she also urged Kennedy & her brother to break the barrier between the BSAA & the restrictive U.S. Government.

2011.

A paramilitary organization, on orders from Alex Wesker, raided TerraSave International's headquarters & took Redfield, Moira Burton & several other agents as prisoners. They were transported to Sejm Island & injected with the t-Phobos virus as part of Wesker's Fear Experiment.Redfield managed to escape & was found adrift in the ocean sometime later & rushed to a hospital for examination. Burton was left behind, but after six months of searching with little intel to go on, the BSAA was able to locate the island & Redfield participated in both Burton's rescue & the assassination of a mutated Wesker.

2012 - 2013.

After the events of Sejm Island & the subsequent quarantine & countless tests she endured in the BSAA's custody, Redfield took a brief leave of absence from TerraSave.Sometime after her return to work, Redfield assisted Piers Nivans, Valentine & the BSAA in tracking down her missing amnesiac brother.

2014.

Redfield & her partner Inéz Diaco were dispatched to two neighboring islands off the South American coast to look into reports of possible B.O.W.-related activity. Redfield began her investigation Zanahoria Island, with Diaco on Sonido de Tortuga Island.Redfield discovered a mutated barracuda caught by local fishermen & further digging lead her to believe the source of the outbreak was on Sonido de Tortuga.After losing contact with Diaco, Redfield called the BSAA in for backup. Upon their arrival to Sonido de Tortuga, they found that it had fallen to a t-Virus outbreak & was crawling with B.O.Ws.Redfield & Diaco reunited & with a handful of survivors, found themselves in an abandoned facility being utilized for the Kodoku Project, a bioweapons research project led by Alex Wesker's associate Dr. Dirk Miller.Diaco was killed by a Hunter while protecting the civilians & Redfield was critically injured trying to apprehend Miller & his accomplice, known only as Julie, who had been posing as one of the survivors.With the help of BSAA operative Parker Luciani, Redfield was able to kill the mutated Julie & escape the island with the remaining survivors.

2015 - PRESENT.
